My Friends Care, Inc. committed to increasing the number of potential bone marrow donors through the National Marrow Donor Program. To support these efforts we sponsor bone marrow drives. Many groups contact our office with the desire to host donor drives, and we are happy to provide assistance when we are able. However, due to the demand for our assistance, certain guidelines must be followed in order for groups to receive assistance from My Friends Care.

My Friends Care can provide the following types of assistance for groups wishing to host donor drives, but all types of assistance are not always available:

• Information about hosting donor drives.

• Suggestions for securing a location to host the drive.

• Assistance with securing services from donor recruitment centers (phlebotomists, etc.).

• Information about how to recruit volunteers for the drive.

• Information for the drive about bone marrow transplants, the National Marrow Donor Program, and what being a donor means.

• Assistance with publicity and advertising for the drive.

• Assistance with determining how many people might be tested at the drive and what funds are necessary.

• Financial assistance for community and corporate donor drives.

After contacting My Friends Care about hosting a donor drive, the group requesting assistance must fill out the Donor Drive Request Form. This form must be received no less than three weeks prior to the date of the anticipated drive. When the form is received, the Board will make a determination as to what assistance is available for the donor drive and will contact you with the their decision. .

Once the terms of assistance have been agreed upon, the group's Coordinator must complete and sign the Agreement form and return it to My Friends Care before the assistance can be provided.

If My Friends Care provides assistance and support for a group's donor drive, that group must agree to include the name and logo of My Friends Care in all their publicity and advertising. Also, My Friends Care signs and literature must be distributed at your donor drive.
